Penetration of the tread by a nail or a sharp of glass or metal can often be safely repaired by our trained staff up to British Standards BSAU159. This British Standard also defines the repairs limits to the location of the tyre repair, the size and the number of repairs that can be carried out on a tyre.

This standard also defines the validity of a tyre repair regarding location. To remain compliant with BSAU159 we are only able to carry out tyre repairs to the central 3/4 of the tyre – this is known as the minor repair area.
AMS Tyres will inspect for any cuts, breaks and abrasions to the tyre casing which if repaired to a lesser standard could prove fatal in the event of a tyre failing at high speeds. Inspection is a vital part of the service as if we have any doubts about whether or a not a tyre should be repaired, we will advise accordingly.
